MY YOUTH GROUP
I had the best youth group in the entire world hands down. We were so blessed growing up soooo blessed. In the sixth grade, I went on my first mission trip to KY. In the seventh grade, I went on another mission trip and church camp. In the eighth grade, another mission trip and church camp. Freshmen year I went on two mission trips. One to mexico...that was intense. I also went to church camp. Sophomore year I went on a mission trip and church camp. Junior year I went to church camp and a mission trip. Sadly senior year I went on my last mission trip and church camp as a student.
On Sunday, We had Choir. These were the people who took us on the mission trips. Youth choir sang and did choreography to do concerts in cities across the United States to attract people to our block parties where the gospel would be presented and churches would be introduced to lost people. While in these cities we would clean schools, clean neighborhoods, go door to door, do anything basically any one in the city would ask to..VBS or even free car washes. Working at the car wash. Some places we went were: TN, NC, PN, VA, MA, and ID.
On Sunday Nights, We had Core Groups. The youth minister chose college students or adults to mentor a group of students. Groups were divided by age and sex. Groups varied from two to eight members. The purpose was to hold each other accountable and grow in God's Word. We did both but we also became best friends. My favorite high school memories included these six women.
On Wednesday nights, we had a 9-12 service where we worshipped God through singing. One of our many amazing youth ministers would present God's worth. Always challenging us to follow God's will and make a difference in those around us. We were focused on being close with God and telling others about Him.
On Sunday mornings, we had the best Snday school teacher ever. We were divided by grade. Each grade had like ten adults who led them in Sunday School. Let me tell you were blessed. We learned things like what other denominations believe to what other religions believe. We learned how to defend our faith and what we believe and why. I am so thankful for all those teachers who invested in my lives.
I could go on and on just ask me about One Up weekends, DNOW weekends, Camp, and Choir tour.
I will never forget you Shades. Never.
